Huge maritime cranes to be moved
Two of Britain's largest maritime objects are being removed. The biggest crane in western Europe, which has dominated the skyline over Devonport Dockyard for 25 years, is to be dismantled, while the 200ft tall floating crane Titan has already left Wallsend-on-Tyne.

Work to remove the Devonport crane, the jib of which is more than 100m long and weighs 1,400 tonnes, will be carried out this autumn. The floating crane Titan, meanwhile, although 86-years-old, is being transported from the River Tyne to India to start a new career in a local shipyard.
