Plans afoot for Bridlington Marina
Plans to build a 320-berth marina in the seaside town of Bridlington in East Yorkshire have finally been agreed between East Riding of Yorkshire Council and its partners Bridlington Harbour Commissioners and Yorkshire Forward.
Under the proposals the marina, which will expand Bridlington Harbour, will include 215 pontoon moorings, with 105 more to be located in a new outer harbour. If it goes ahead the move will make Bridlington the second largest coastal marina in the north east after Hartlepool and should ease the problem of available berths in the region and reduce waiting lists at Scarborough and Whitby.
The new plans will hopefully be put to public consultation later in the year, although it is too early to say when work will commence, a spokesperson for East Riding of Yorkshire council said, "The partners have agreed that they want the same thing but there are still several phases, including getting planning permission, to complete before work can begin. If all goes well we hope to start work by the middle of next year."
